Why can a filing show an older position?
The position date, SEC acceptance time and site ingest time describe different events.
A 13F position belongs to its quarter end. A 13D or 13G stake belongs to the event date stated in the report. A Form 4 transaction belongs to its transaction date. SEC acceptance time tells you when a report reached EDGAR. Ingest time tells you when this site received it.
A newly received filing can therefore describe an older position. The timeline keeps those dates and sources visible. A later ownership report can supply an estimate after the quarterly snapshot, with its source named. Read the timeline and estimate rule.
